Geographical Center of the Lower 48 States

The last place Jamel and I visited was the geographical center of the continental United States.  It is located outside, Lebanon, KS (note the center of the entire USA is located about 20 miles north of Belle Fouche, SD, while the center of North America is near Rugby, ND).

We raced a thunderstorm to Lebanon, KS, just after the Hot Wheels event in Speed, KS.  We actually drove through the storm front (or at least the leading edge).  The temperature went from 94-96 deg F west of the storm, to 72 deg F just in front of the storm, and up to 106 deg F east of the storm about 30 miles.  Quite the temperature gradient through the storm.

There was also a closed motel and a small chapel at the location.  Apparently someone was thinking this was going to be more of a destination that it turned out to be.
